19 May, 2012 · Posted by under Miscellaneous · No Comments

Taking a break from parenting duties, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner stepped out for some alone time.

The happy couple recently stopped by Whiskey Blue inside the W Los Angeles – Westwood hotel, where they sat at the bar and had drinks together.

Garner, who sipped on red wine; and Affleck “were smiling, laughing and very affectionate towards each other,” an onlooker tells PEOPLE. “Jen’s post-baby body looked amazing!”

Money was apparently no object for the married pair, who left a generous $20 tip for a $30 bill. But there’s a chance Affleck had some extra cash laying around after competing in the “Playing for Good” poker tournament benefiting the Geffen Playhouse just a little bit earlier.

The cute couple hit the Children Mending Hearts charity benefit event in L.A. for some family time with daughters Violet and Seraphina.

But did their 2-month-old baby boy Samuel make his first public party debut?

Nope, Ben and Jen left their youngest one at home while at the do-gooder event.

Affleck arrived at the private residence with his mom Chris and his girls in tow while Garner showed up later in the afternoon. Violet, 6, and Seraphina, 3, spent most of the day making bracelets and doing arts and crafts with their grandma.

Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman’s teen son Connor deejayed the bash while Fatburger provided some of the yummy bites. Other guests included Tobey Maguire and wife Jennifer, Patricia Heaton, Sam Trammell and Happy Endings star Adam Pally, who hosted the event.

3 February, 2012 · Posted by under Miscellaneous · 3 Comments

Jennifer Garner’s one of Hollywood’s most famous actresses, but that doesn’t mean she needs a lavish baby shower!

She celebrated the upcoming birth of her third child quietly at a friend’s home in the Brentwood section of LA on Feb. 1, Life & Style has learned.

“It was a lot of moms and very small,” a friend of the star tells Life & Style. “It was just a normal group her friends, but Jen was very excited to see everyone.”

And the mom of Violet, 6, and Seraphina, 3, didn’t event want gifts!

“She asked that no one give her anything, but she still ended up getting a ton!” the friend adds. “She was thrilled.”

But what’s Jennifer, 39, looking most forward to? Adding to her brood with her husband of six years, Ben Affleck.

Zynga’s “FarmVille” film with Jennifer Garner, plus news for Alec Baldwin
10 December, 2011 · Posted by under Miscellaneous · No Comments

The animals on “FarmVille” have come to life in an animated film starring actress Jennifer Garner.

No, social games maker Zynga Inc. isn’t going Hollywood as rumored on the Internet a couple of months ago, at least not yet.

Rather, Zynga has released an animated “FarmVille” short to promote a holiday campaign to raise money for the Save The Children organization through the sale of virtual goods within the game, like a holiday pony, a teddy bear tree or a peppermint lollipop crop.

Zynga also has holiday-themed promotions running in its other social games. Here’s one that might cause “30 Rock” star Alec Baldwin to get kicked off another plane – his favorite word game “Words with Friends” has a holiday-themed board.

Zynga posted part one of “A Very FarmVille Christmas” on Friday and said part two will come out sometime before Christmas. Speaking of raising funds, Zynga officials wouldn’t comment on reports the San Francisco company is set to start selling stock next week.

‘Breakfast Club’ reading: Jason Reitman heads to detention
20 October, 2011 · Posted by under Miscellaneous · No Comments

Angeleno fans of John Hughes’ 1980s coming-of-age favorite “The Breakfast Club” will have the opportunity to experience the tale a little differently Thursday night.

Filmmaker Jason Reitman (“Juno,” “Up in the Air”) will direct a live reading of the screenplay for the film as part of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s new film series, helping us wonder, once again, if Barry Manilow knows that Mr. Vernon raids his wardrobe.

Mindy Kaling, Patton Oswalt, Jennifer Garner and James Van Der Beek will be on hand to play the roles originated by Ally Sheedy’s goth girl, Anthony Michael Hall’s nerd, Molly Ringwald’s popular chick and Emilio Estevez’s jock, respectively, and give new life to the story of students bonding in the detention room at Shermer High. The actors will offer their interpretations on the classic lines, while Reitman will call out directions on the stage.

Reitman told 24 Frames that he was motivated to stage the unusual event because most filmgoers don’t get a chance to see how actors arrive at their characters. “It’s exciting to see a role developed from start to finish,” Reitman said.

And “The Breakfast Club,” he noted, particularly lends itself to the format. “It’s almost a play — even characters saying these great lines. It’s easy to imagine the scenes as you listen.”

LACMA’s film program has attempted several novel initiatives under new chief Elvis Mitchell. The curator told The Times recently that he wanted to expand the definition of a film series beyond simple screenings. He has high hopes for Reitman’s live-reading concept. “I think in some way [it] will change the way people look at movies,” Mitchell said. (By Wednesday, the reading was listed as sold out.)

And Reitman? He wants to, well, buy another Saturday. The directo aims to organize script reads from other films, with different casts, at LACMA in the coming months. That is, assuming Thursday’s idea succeeds. “I have no idea if it will work. It just seemed like a really interesting experiment,” he said. “If it doesn’t, I guess we’ll be a one-hit wonder.”
