On September 10, Elyse Walker – owner of the impeccably edited Pacific Palisades boutique that bears her name – is hosting her Seventh Annual Pink Party to eradicate women’s cancer. And Gilt City members are invited to check out the charitable festivities with one VIP ticket or a VIP table for eight.

Jennifer Garner is set to host the soirée, which takes place at Drai’s Hollywood and includes an extensive offering of hors d’oeuvres, bottle service and a gift bag filled with goodies from the likes of Kate Sommerville, MAC and Giada de Laurentiis.

High rollers can snag fabulous prizes at a Martin Short-hosted live auction – which features a stay at The Ranch at Live Oak/Malibu and five-star dinners at The French Laundry, Bouchon and more – and find handbags from Lanvin, Balenciaga and Nancy Gonzalez at the silent auction. Meanwhile, stylish party-goers can sit back and enjoy a fashion show featuring looks from Stella McCartney, Barbara Bui, J. Mendel and Valentino.

West Virginia celebs add their fame to state reading campaign

Some famous West Virginians are joining in the campaign to make reading a priority.

Actress Jennifer Garner and actors John Corbett and Sam Trammell are promoting reading under a project promoted by the state Department of Education, Read Aloud West Virginia, the state’s library commission and the Imagination Library.

The Read WV program is designed to encourage children and their parents and grandparents to make reading a priority early in life.

The celebrities are appearing in radio and television ads that ask, “What are you reading, West Virginia?”

West Virginia’s teacher of the year, Drema McNeal, will also take part in the campaign. She’s a sixth-grade teacher at Park Middle School in Raleigh County.

2nd annual Lindt Gold Bunny Celebrity Auction

Jennifer Garner is participating in a special online auction benefitting Autism Speaks. Jen is participating in the 2nd annual Lindt Gold Bunny Celebrity Auction, to help to celebrate the Easter season and support the autism cause. The auction is part of Lindt’s partnership with Autism Speaks – this is the third year Lindt has partnered with Autism Speaks during the Easter season to support those affected by autism and to raise funds and awareness for the cause.

Next Wednesday, March 30, Lindt will kick-off the auction at www.ebay.com/LindtGoldBunny and 100 percent of the auction proceeds will be donated to Autism Speaks. More than 80 celebrities, including Jen, have signed porcelain version of the iconic Lindt Gold Bunny and all will be on display and up for bids between March 30 – April 9!

Charity auction – compact signed by Jennifer

Jennifer signed a Judith Leiber mirror compact for Pandora’s Project organization in
September (at the Variety Power of Women luncheon).

The compact is now up for auction. The proceeds benefit Pandora’s Project, a small grassroots nonprofit organization that provides support and resources to survivors of sexual violence. The compact was donated by L’Oreal Paris. You can view the listing here

Jennifer Calls for Early Education Investment at Senate Hearing

Actor and Save the Children’s U.S. Programs Artist Ambassador Jennifer Garner testified before the Senate Subcommittee on Children and Families today to advocate for deeper federal investments in early childhood education. Garner advocated for additional funding for Head Start and the Child Care and Development Block Grant, which would fund innovative early childhood education programs.

“The words a toddler hears, the music that makes them tap their feet and the games they play builds the foundation for the next two decades of their education,” said Garner. “Simply put, it should be a right for every single toddler to be enrolled in a high-quality, early education program.” (more…)
