Ben Affleck opened his “SNL” monologue about hosting for the fifth time, and joining the “Five Timers Club.”
He then talked about how he controversially said during his Oscars acceptance speech that his marriage to Jennifer Garner “is work.”
Affleck then invited his wife onstage to explain that that’s simply ”a way that we talk.”
After saying she was “not sure why you needed to share it with a billion people,” Garner noted she felt Affleck should’ve said, “Our marriage is a gift.”
Garner then added that, of course, she’s the one “who does all the work.”

Jennifer Garner and Michael Caine have been cast alongside Al Pacino, Annette Bening, and Bobby Cannavale in Imagine, about an aging rock star (Pacino) who reconnects with his grown son after opening a letter sent from John Lennon to his 19-year-old self. Garner will play Pacino’s daughter-in-law, with Caine onboard as his longtime friend and manager. Writer Dan Fogelman (Crazy, Stupid, Love, Tangled) is set to direct from his own script for Inimitable Pictures and Mister Smith Entertainment, with filming to begin late June/early July in LA. The based-on-a-true-story pic was originally set up at WB for Steve Carell before it went into turnaround and was revived as an indie production. Denise DiNovi, Jessie Nelson, and Nimitt Mankad are producing. Shivani Rawat is executive producing for Inimitable Pictures which is financing the film. David Garrett’s Mister Smith Entertainment will be shopping foreign rights this week at Cannes. WME Global is handling US sales and negotiated the deal with Mister Smith, with Stephen Dembitzer LLP repping Inimitable Pictures.

Listen to supermom Jennifer Garner: Stay out of the sun! “Sure, a tan looks good, but it’s not worth messing up your skin long-term,” the actress, whose peaches and cream complexion is testament to her commitment to sun protection, tells Us Weekly.
“It’s important to prioritize sunscreen as a family,” says the mom, who has three kids — Violet, 7, Seraphina, 4, and Samuel, 14 months — with husband Ben Affleck, 40. The Neutrogena spokeswoman, 41, tells Us how she covers her bases.
Wear SPF every day, rain or shine. “I love Neutrogena’s SPF 30 moisturizer with retinol and vitamin C. But if I’m going to the beach, I’ll use a waterproof formula with SPF 70.”
Educate children at an early age. “They do not relish putting on sunscreen everyday, but we make it quick. Ben puts it on the kids when I’m not home and vice versa. If I forget to do it, they’ll remind me.”
Limit time spent outdoors. “When I was younger and on the swim team, I’d try to get more and more tan all year. Now I know it only takes one burn to double your chance of skin cancer later in life.”
Buy 1, donate 1. “You have to be sure your kids are protected from the sun. One bad sunburn in childhood could actually double your child’s odds of developing skin cancer later in life. I love that for the months of May through July, when you buy any Neutrogena product with SPF, Neutrogena will donate one to a family in need. So not only are you doing something good for yourself this summer by being protected, but you’re also doing something for other families, too.”

Jennifer Garner is in talks to join the cast of director Miguel Arteta’s Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad, Day, according to a story at The Hollywood Reporter. She would play Alexander’s mother in the children’s book adaptation with Steve Carell already attached to play the boy’s father.
Written by Judith Viorst in 1972, the famous children’s book revolves around family members collectively enduring the worst day of their lives. Alexander’s day goes from bad to worse after he wakes up with gum in his hair.
Garner starred last year in The Odd Life of Timothy Green. She’s soon set to appear in Jean-Marc Vallee’s Dallas Buyers Club.
The film is being produced by Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps and the Jim Henson Company. Levy and Dan Levine will produce for 21 Laps, while Lisa Henson and Jason Lust will produce for the Jim Henson Company.

Dallas Buyers Club, currently in post-production, has been acquired by Focus Features for domestic theatrical release in the second half of 2013. The company has also acquired Latin American rights to the feature. Focus CEO James Schamus and Focus president Andrew Karpen made the announcement today.
A Truth Entertainment production, Dallas Buyers Club is produced by Robbie Brenner and Rachel Winter. Spirit Award winner Matthew McConaughey stars in the fact-based drama for director Jean-Marc Vallée (The Young Victoria). The film’s original screenplay is by Craig Borten and Melissa Wallack.
In Dallas Buyers Club, Mr. McConaughey portrays real-life Texas electrician Ron Woodroof, an ordinary man who found himself in a life-or-death battle with the medical establishment and pharmaceutical companies. In 1986, Ron was blindsided by being diagnosed as HIV-positive and given 30 days to live. With the U.S. still internally divided over how to combat the virus and restricting medications, Ron grabbed hold of non-toxic alternative treatments from all over the world by means both legal and illegal. Seeking to avoid government sanctions against selling non-approved medicines and supplements, he established a “buyers club,” which fellow HIV-positive people could join for access to his supplies.
The cast of Dallas Buyers Club also includes Gotham Independent Film Award winner Jared Leto and Golden Globe Award winner Jennifer Garner. The movie’s executive producers are Truth Entertainment’s Tony Notargiacomo and Joe Newcomb; Nicholas Chartier; Cassian Elwes; Logan Levy; Nathan Ross; and Holly Wiersma.
Mr. Schamus and Mr. Karpen commented, “Matthew McConaughey is an actor at the top of his game, and he incarnates Ron Woodroof by showing how his self-interest was galvanized into something much more. Audiences will want to take this journey with him, Jared Leto, and Jennifer Garner, as guided by their dynamic director Jean-Marc Vallée.”
Mr. Vallée said, “I’m extremely pleased that we are partnered with Focus Features. They have a long and successful history of sharing memorable stories. Ron Woodroof’s story is one of an imperfect man and his fight for survival, during a confused and desperate time. We all believe that this film had to finally be made, and we are all grateful and privileged to be part of this project.”
